0:00In Ghana, sadly, countless children are
0:02abandoned and fall victim to being
0:04captured as slaves to the fishing
0:05industry. And after speaking with
0:07countless locals, I came to the
0:09heartbreaking realization that being
0:11rescued is only the beginning of their
0:13struggle. Even for those fortunate
0:16enough to escape, years of relentless
0:18abuse and exploitation have left them in
0:20desperate need of medical care. Yet,
0:22there are no adequate facilities to
0:23provide the treatment they so urgently
0:25require. So, we made it our mission to
0:27build a brand new surgical center in the
0:29heart of Ghana to combat the lack of
0:31medical care to help survivors like
0:33these two brothers, Ernest and Richmond,
0:35who were sold as slaves after being
0:37abandoned by their parents and only
0:39rescued at the age of 16. When our mom
0:42and dad give birth to us, we don't fight
0:45them and they leave us. As slaves of the
0:47fishing industry, the two were separated
0:49and had to survive on their own, not
0:51knowing if they will ever see each other
0:53again. Sometimes they will try to push
0:56you inside the water. If you don't know
0:58how to swim, then you are going to die.
1:0020 of my friends, they all die.
